Bill Russell's No. 6 to be retired throughout NBA

When I first learned about Adam Silver retiring Bill‘s number throughout all 30 teams in the NBA it was such a surreal and moving moment.  It is something that has been done only a few times in all professional sports so for Bill to be able to occupy that rare air is special. The retiring of the number 6 solidifies Bill in history in a way that will live in perpetuity - it is such an honor, and he would be very proud.
